A West Ealing restaurant which has been serving customers since 1985 was given the lowest possible food hygiene rating.

Haweli, an Indian restaurant in Uxbridge Road, was given a 0 rating by the Food Standards Agency (FSA) following an inspection in March.

It was told major improvement was necessary for hygienic food handling and management of food safety.

There was also "little" confidence in management, Scores on the Doors said.

According to Haweli's website, it has been serving customers since 1985.

It offers "authentic and modern Indian cuisine", also offering a take-away delivery service.

Ealing Council said the restaurant was temporarily closed on March 8 after it was given the rating, before it reopened.

The council said officers had since reinspected the restaurant, however it could not disclose the results of the reinspection.

At the time of publication, Haweli's food hygiene rating on FSA's website remains at 0.
