The man found dead in Hyde Park in the early hours of Friday morning (August 12) has been named as 62-year-old Jairo Medina from Chelsea .

Mr Medina, a professional carer, was found by a member of the public with at around 5.50am but when officers attended the scene he was deceased.

Police said Mr Medina's family have been informed of his death.

A post-mortem carried out at Westminster Mortuary on Saturday (August 13) did not determine the cause of death but did reveal he had been the victim of an assault .

The Metropolitan Police yesterday announced the 'suspicious' death was now being treated as a murder.

Mr Medina's body was found near the mosaic to commemorate The Reformers' Tree in Hyde Park.

Detectives from the Homicide and Major Crime Command are investigating the case and no arrests have been made at this time.

Officers say they are keen to hear from anyone who may have seen anything suspicious to contact them on 101.
