Three hundred runners have taken part in the first ever relay marathon on Heathrow Airport’s northern runway.
The event got under way at at the stroke of midnight on September 12, and saw eager runners from Border Force, the Met Police, British Airways, Virgin Atlantic, Heathrow Express and the airport taking on the challenge.
A live band assembled to ensure runners didn’t flag and 100 volunteers shunned their bedtime to stand on the sidelines at the runway and sound encouragement.

Those benefiting are the Heathrow Community Fund, Oxfam, Flying Start and Help for Heroes.
