Nearly 4,000 runners took part in last Sunday's Ealing Half Marathon and today we can publish the full results.

The race was won by Matthew Kiprotich Kimutai, 21, who completed the course in 64.33 minutes, coming top of the 3,983 participants on Sunday September 29.

The Kenyan full time athlete, who came to London for a month just for the event, said he knew he would win. He said: “It’s easy for me, I’m not tired. I have run it in 62 minutes in Kenya and have won three half marathons there. I started running when I was two or three, it makes me feel good. My father is a runner as well.”

The second Ealing Half Marathon, launched in 2012 as part of the legacy to the London Olympics, was a 13.1 mile single lap, traffic-free course, starting and finishing in Lammas Park.

Robert Wilson, 26, in seventh place said there were a lot more supporters this year. The runner, whose time was 1:12:21, said: “Last year I was third but there were some really good guys at the front this time and there were a lot of twists and hills on the route.”

James Ellis, from Clapham, who came in ninth place with the time 1:14:37, said the atmosphere was really good. He said: “It’s one of the better half marathons I have done. It rates amongst the best.”

Ealing Eagles runner Ben Cope, 31, completed the marathon in just over an hour and a half while wearing a full lion costume.

The hardware engineer manager who lives in Ealing and ran for fun said: “It was just in the wardrobe. I read in the instructions that you could go in fancy dress so I just went for it.”

Race Director Kelvin Walker said: “We have delivered an excellent and hugely successful event and I would like to express a big thank you to everyone who supported the race and contributed to its success.”

The chosen charity for this year's race was Epilepsy Action, while other charity partners were Tearfund, Cape, Ealing Samaritans, Ealing Centre for Independent Living, Imperial College Healthcare Charity, Shooting Star Chase, The Gabrielle Gray Foundation, Raise the Roof Kenya, and St Mungos.

Sponsors of the Ealing Half Marathon 2013 included Up & Running, Volvic, TIMEX, Clif Bar, Xempo, Mercedes Benz Brentford, Smart Brentford, Move Clinics, Bodyline Fitness, The New Inn, The Park Club, dunnhumby, Ealing Eagles and Ealing Council.
