Hounslow is one of the UK's top technology hubs, according to a new report by the financial giant KPMG.

It has the country's fourth highest proportion of tech firms, which account for 18% of businesses in the borough.

That's according to KPMG's Tech Monitor UK - an annual report on the health of the sector, which was published on Monday, December 21.

Only Reading (22%), Wokingham (21%) and Slough (19%) have a higher share of technology firms, its findings show.

The M4 corridor is Britain's equivalent to Silicon Valley in the US. It hosts three of the country's top five tech clusters, KPMG says.

The report also says the number of private tech-related enterprises in the UK has grown by 31% since 2010, equivalent to one new firm being added every hour of the day for the past five years.

Hounslow has the UK's 30th fastest tech sector, according to KPMG, with a yearly growth of 12%.

Hillingdon saw the most rapid expansion in west London, with a rate of 13% placing it 23rd nationally.
