Police are investigating after thousands of capsules, suspected to be nitrous oxide, were found at a shop in Camberley following an operation on February 9.

The test purchase operation was carried out by Surrey Heath neighbourhood officers at Dimons Convenience Store in Frimley Road at around 2.30pm.

A 19-year-old man from Hounslow , who was arrested on suspicion of supplying a psychoactive substance in relation to the incident, has been bailed until March 27, pending further inquiries.

A 43-year-old man has been interviewed in relation to the incident and enquiries continue, police said.

Used nitrous oxide canisters

Surrey Heath Neighbourhood Inspector Bob Darkens said: “I would like to reassure Surrey Heath residents that any information we receive about the sale or use of illegal substances in our local communities will be acted upon thoroughly and swiftly.

"I would also like to remind owners of licensed premises that if they are caught selling illegal substances, they face prosecution and a review of their premises licence."

Nitrous oxide was brought under the Psychoactive Substances Act 2016 on May 26 2016, making it an offence to produce or supply the substance in the UK.

Surrey Police urge anyone with information about the use or sale of illegal substances in their area, to contact them on 101.
