Hounslow Central tube station has reopened after a man was hit and killed by a train on the Piccadilly line .

The male was reported to have died at the scene just after 10.15am on Wednesday (March 1) in Hounslow , British Transport Police (BTP) said.

This is the second person to die on the underground train line this week, following another fatality at Hounslow East underground station on Monday (February 27).

A spokesman for BTP said: "A person has sadly died after being struck by a train at Hounslow Central Underground Station in London.

"We were called at 10.17am today and attended alongside colleagues from the ambulance service, but a man died at the scene.

"The death is not believed to be suspicious and we are now working to contact his next of kin."

The London Underground station at Hounslow Central along with Lampton Road were closed for around an hour while emergency services attended the scene.

Delays are expected on the line after the station reopened.

Hounslow police, along with paramedics from the ambulance service and British Transport Police officers attended.
