If you were worried the days of sunshine are over for 2016, you'll be pleased to hear it's not time to pack away the summer clothes just yet.

The Met Office has predicted London is set to get its hottest autumn in 67 years thanks to hot tropical air arrive in the UK from ex-Hurricane Gaston.

Met Office forecaster Luke Miall said: "Temperatures look above average through the week, with warm tropical air being pulled to the UK from ex-Tropical Storm Gaston, which will pass north-west of the UK on Monday.

"Highs will rise from 22C on Monday. Wednesday to Friday could see 27C, with a chance of 28C. London will be the warmest.

"The South and Midlands will have the most sunshine, with the North also seeing sunny spells, before a possible breakdown from Friday."

The Weather Outlook forecaster Brian Gaze added: "There’s a reasonable chance of over 30.2C in London."

Meanwhile, for the beginning of this week, temperatures are to get a little higher, with humidity and rain in some parts of London.
