A violent robber has been jailed for glassing his victim in the face multiple times during a Rolex watch theft.
Mowleed Abdullahi from Harrow launched a prolonged attack in Charles II Street near Piccadilly Circus.
Abduhalli's 41-year-old victim was left unconscious and with serious facial injuries that needed more than 50 stitches on Friday January 6.
Police were called to the scene and they found the victim lying in the street where he was attacked.
Using CCTV, officers were able to establish that two suspects had approached him from behind, and the first suspect pulled him to the floor before Abdullahi, 18, of Bancroft Gardens in Harrow, attacked him with a glass bottle.
The first suspect then took the victim's Rolex watch and fled.
A mobile phone, cash and credit cards were also stolen during the incident.
Abdullahi was found covered in blood near the scene later that day.
Despite telling officers he was attacked and hit with a bottle himself, he was arrested and charged shortly after.
Abduhalli was sentenced to 12 years in prison at the Old Bailey on Friday (March 3) after pleading guilty at the same court in February to grievous bodily harm with intent and robbery.
The other suspect is described as a black man, wearing jeans and a dark jacket – the watch is still missing.
“Abdullahi has shown no remorse for his horrific actions.
"I hope he reflects upon what he did during his time behind bars.
“We are still working hard to identify the first suspect so he can also be brought to justice for this despicable crime.”
Police have released a picture of the watch and a CCTV image of the second suspect in the hope of tracing him.
Anyone with information or who recognises the man is asked to call Westminster CID on 020 7321 8260 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
