Kaleidoscopic colours filled the skies as more than 300 people celebrated Holi on Hounslow Heath.

Revellers covered one another with dyed powder as they cavorted on the heath to the strains of Bollywood music and Dhol drums.

The ticketed Holi Ka Hullad event at Hounslow Heath Golf Centre in Staines Road, Hounslow , on Sunday, March 20 was run by London Desi Hangouts.

Dr Poonam Bakhshi, who organised the celebrations, said: "The atmosphere was so very vibrant, colourful and beautiful. People were happy smiling and coloured in colours of Holi."

Holi is a spring festival originating in India but is now celebrated across the world, both as a religious occasion by Hindus and as a chance to unwind and enjoy the spectacle by other people.

More than 500 people took part in another Holi festival at the Indian Gymkhana Club in Osterley on Saturday, March 19 , where organisers said participants flung 160kg of coloured powder.
