Take a look inside the newly refurbished Rose and Crown pub in Heston.

The historic watering hole on Heston Road, which is under new management by lifelong local residents John Corbett and Natasha Gleeson , swung open its doors on Monday (February 6).

Footage shows the £210,000 makeover has brought the pub back to life with warm colours, seating areas for punters including cosy corners and an extended and refitted kitchen while retaining its historical features.

Doors closed on January 2, 2017, to allow for the five-week renovation of the Heineken-owned Star Pubs and Bars.

The pub had become rundown and the couple who had worked there in the past wanted to bring it back to its former glory buzzing with people.

As one of the oldest buildings in the area it dates back to the time of Charles II and features such as its oak beans, sash windows and historical pictures have been preserved.

Mr Corbett said: “The area desperately needs a community hub and we want the Rose & Crown to fill that gap.

"Our aim is to make the Rose & Crown a thriving local and a place that people of all ages feel welcome.

“We’ve brought the Rose & Crown out of the 1970’s and given it the ‘wow factor’ but kept the traditional feel of this lovely old building."

In the kitchen there are some popular dishes on the menu including fish and chips, and the couple will be introducing breakfast and afternoon tea in the coming weeks.

They will also start hosting quiz nights, board game evenings and live entertainment as well as charity fundraisers for residents to get involved in.

An area of the pub can also be reserved for local group meetings and a darts team is being put together for anyone interested in signing up.

“We took on the Rose & Crown because we wanted to revive it and give it back to the community," Mr Corbett added.

It’s their pub and we’ll be asking residents what kinds of activities they’d like us to run."

“We’ve got children and grandchildren, and it’s important to us that the Rose & Crown is family friendly.

The couple’s next project is to extend the already large garden, adding a children's play area to the mix and new furniture.

A special celebration will be held to mark the pub's reopening with its new cask ale, the "Rose & Crown" as well as entertainment including a band and disco, on March 4.

Tim Galligan, Star Pubs & Bars operations director, added: “We wish John and Natasha every success for the future.

"Their local knowledge and love of Heston have been invaluable to planning the pub’s refurbishment and turning it round.

"And their hard work, warm welcome and dedication are putting the great into Great British pub at the Rose & Crown.”
