The 64-year-old man who died in Hillingdon on Thursday (December 1) was a detainee at an immigration centre near Heathrow Airport , the Metropolitan Police has confirmed.

Police officers and paramedics were called to Colnbrook Immigration Removal Centre in Harmondsworth just after 9am on Thursday after reports of an assault.

The 64-year-old was rushed to a west London hospital but died there 12 hours later, shortly after 9.30pm.

His next of kin have been informed but the victim has not been named.

Three men were arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after the assault and a 32-year-old man remains in police custody.

The two other men were both released without charge.
