A biker from Heston is to appear as "May" in a charity motorcycle calendar for next year.

Beating around 600 other people to the pose, Tomasso Battaglia was selected as one of 12 finalists by British superbike racer Leon Haslam.

Following the professional shoot, he is in the running to win a year's modelling contract with GModels with the top three winners revealed at the Motorcycle Live event on November 19.

Mr Battaglia said: “The shoot was great fun and I loved meeting people who love bikes as much as I do.

“To win would feel great. It’s so much fun to see motorcycles from a more evocative and image based viewpoint and I’ve really enjoyed being part of the competition.”

Motorcycle insurance broker Carole Nash is behind the calendar which was inspired by a recent study that found bikers were rated more attractive than drivers.

The calendar will be given out at the Motorcycle Live show at the NEC in exchange for a voluntary contribution towards the Nationwide Association of Blood Bikes.

Peter Robertson, chairman of the charity, said: "On behalf of the Blood Bike community I'd like to thank Carole Nash and all those involved in producing this calendar and of course, in advance, thank all those that donate.

“The proceeds will help continue to support and underpin the vital work that Blood Bikers all over the UK. and indeed, Ireland do."

The top three entrants will win a modelling contract, a new leather jacket and a cash prize.

Rebecca Donohue, head of marketing at Carole Nash, added: “The photoshoot for the 12 finalists was a huge success and we think this year’s calendar is going to be the best yet.

“We’re also proud to be able to support the Nationwide Association of Blood Bikes as it is a charity that is very close to our hearts and helps to save lives up and down the country.”
