Heathrow third runway: New anti-expansion group claims residents are unaware their homes will be under the approach path

Brentford & Hounslow Stop Heathrow Expansion and local MP Ruth Cadbury urge people in Hounslow to attend public meeting TOMORROW

A new group against Heathrow expansion claims many residents in Brentford and Heston are unaware a third runway will put their homes under the approach path.

The recently formed anti-airport expansion campaign group in Hounslow is therefore calling on residents to attend its first public meeting to find out the truth.

Brentford & Hounslow Stop Heathrow Expansion (BASHE) with support from local MP Ruth Cadbury are encouraging residents to come along to the gathering about Heathrow Airport's third runway, on Tuesday (March 21).

It will give people a chance to learn all about the government's plans for an extra runway in west London, its impact and what people can do to make their voices heard.

BASHE organiser and local resident Dave Waller said: “Most people in central Brentford, Syon Lane north and north Heston aren’t aware that they will be under the approach path to the new runway.

“We are hoping for a good turnout at the public meeting."

Speakers will include the Brentford and Isleworth MP, HACAN's John Stewart and Friends of the Earth's Maggie Thorbun.

Ms Cadbury added: “People need to know how much noisier their area will be if the third runway does go ahead, how much more traffic there will be and what Heathrow is offering in terms of noise insulation and other forms of relief.

"The consultation forms are opaque and seem to be deliberately drafted to be difficult to answer unless you think a third runway is the best thing ever.

"Yet local residents have a voice and should use it!”.
