Passengers planning to fly out from airports in London today have been urged to check the status of their flights due to fog which is affecting London and other areas across southern England.

British Airways warned the fog is affecting flights in and out of London Heathrow, City and Gatwick.

The Met office warned Londoners to expect "tricky travelling conditions" on Wednesday morning (October 26) as a yellow weather warning is put in place.

They warned of "extensive fog forming across parts of southern England", which they add "may be dense in places".

One passenger tweeted: "On a plane but going nowhere due to fog"

Whilst the fog is expected to clear by 10am, some patches may linger through the rest of the morning, so people travelling should take care.
