Metropolitan Police has cordoned off parts of Hayes town centre after an assault saw a man hospitalised with head injuries this morning.

Officers were called by the London Ambulance Service (LAS) on Wednesday (February 22) at 8am to reports of a man injured in Blyth Road.

A Metropolitan Police spokesman said: "Officers attended along with the LAS and found a man suffering from a head injury.

"The man has been taken to a west London hospital."

No further details of the man have been released yet and investigating officers await an update on his condition.

The police added: "Enquiries are ongoing to establish how the injury was caused."

Officers remain on the scene by Station Road to investigate further and no arrests have been made as yet.

An officer from Hayes Met Police told getwestlondon: "Regarding the incident today, there's been an assault in Hayes Town Centre.

"There are cordons in place whilst police investigate."
