A man allegedly held four people hostage at gunpoint, and fired a shot, during an attempted robbery in Hayes.

Armed police rushed to the scene at the Cardinal Building in High Point Village, off Station Road, on Wednesday morning (November 29).

Metropolitan Police officers were called at 10.46am to reports of a man holding a gun at the new-build flats near Hayes and Harlington station.

A spokesman for Hillingdon Police said: "It was further reported four people had been taken hostage at the scene by a man who had been attempting to carry out a robbery.

"Armed officers attended the scene. At 11.02am, armed officers detained and arrested the man."

The incident allegedly took place at the Cardinal Building in Hayes

A firearm was allegedly discharged by the suspect, police said.

Thankfully, no injuries were reported and police firearms were not discharged during the incident.

The man is currently detained at a west London police station.

The incident is not being treated as terror related.

Police enquiries are ongoing.
