Hayes and Harlington's MP is the most 'rebellious' in parliament from those representing constituencies in west London.

John McDonnell has rebelled against the majority vote of his party, Labour, on 479 occasions since he was first elected.

This means that he has rebelled against the party 13.1 per cent of the time in the House of Commons.

This was the third biggest proportion of rebellions for any MP according to data from the Public Whip whose records go back to 1997.

John McDonnell came third in the whole country, being beaten by David Nuttall, MP for Bury North, who is the most rebellious with 16.5 per cent of his votes going against the majority Conservative vote.

Labour leadership candidate Jeremy Corbyn, who is represented by John McDonnell as his agent, is the second most rebellious MP with 15.2 per cent of his votes going against the prevailing view of the Labour party.

John McDonnell was famously suspended from the Commons for five days after grabbing the Speaker's mace in protest at the government's decision to allow a third runway at Heathrow.

He also consistently voted against the Iraq war, while most Labour MPs generally voted for.

Second on the rebellious scale in west London, to the Hayes and Harlington MP, was Bob Blackman, the Conservative politician representing Harrow East. He has rebelled on 36 occasions.

A total of four of the 19 MPs in west London constituencies have never rebelled.

Gauging how rebellious an MP is based on their voting record is not a cast iron indication of how troublesome they might be to their party.

It is extremely difficult to tell which votes are being 'whipped' the strongest behind the scenes and as such how rebellious an MP is actually being in voting against their party.

However, even if MPs are not being encouraged to vote a particular way they are at least being ideologically rebellious if they do end up voting against their party.

Jeremy Corbyn has been cast as a rebel in the Labour leadership race and his credentials certainly back up this perception with 533 of his 3,498 votes going against his party.

His three rivals are far less likely to rebel in the Chamber. Yvette Cooper has rebelled 0.4 per cent of the time while Liz Kendall has rebelled 0.2 per cent of the time compared to Andy Burnham's 0.7 per cent.

All three of these figures are far less than the average of 1.5 per cent for all current MPs.
