Harvil Road is closed off to the public after a car collision between Harefield and Ickenham .

A man and a woman were hospitalised after their car collided with a bridge at the Skip Lane junction.

London's Air Ambulance (LAA) airlifted the woman to hospital after she had to be cut free from the vehicle in Harvil Road by London Fire Brigade (LFB) on Thursday (February 11).

The injured male was treated on the scene by London Ambulance Service and also hospitalised.

Both were treated as a priority and are still currently in hospital.

Closed for foreseeable future

After the pair were taken to hospital, Metropolitan Police took duty of care of the area and have closed a section of the road while engineering work takes place to repair the damaged bridge.

A Metropolitan Police spokesperson said: "Harvil Road is still closed between Skip Lane and New Years Green Lane for the foreseeable future".

Police confirmed that 'structural' repairs will need to be carried out before the road could be re-opened.

They were not able confirm how long this would take and put the estimation down to the "speed of the engineers".
