Former Miramax boss Harvey Weinstein might be investigated by Metropolitan Police following an allegation of sexual assault.

The Hollywood movie producer and co-founder of The Weinstein Company has been subject to several high profile sexual assault allegations from celebrities in both America and the UK.

Merseyside Police referred a case to the Met.

A spokesman or the Met told the Mirror: "The Metropolitan Police Service was passed an allegation of sexual assault by Merseyside Police on Wednesday, 11 October.

"The allegation will be assessed by officers from the Child Abuse and Sexual Offences Command."

A number of high-profile female celebrities including Gwyneth Paltrow, Angelina Jolie and Cara Delevigne have made public allegations against the movie boss.

The producer worked on numerous Hollywood blockbusters including Pulp Fiction, Gangs of New York and Spy Kids.
