A man was arrested after allegedly burgling a home in Harrow - but had to be taken to hospital after injuring himself running away from police.

Police cars and ambulance vehicles were spotted in Sheepcote Road on Tuesday (August 15) evening attending to a burglary tip-off.

The suspect, a 43 year-old man, had tried to escape police but was arrested close the scene.

A spokesman for the Metropolitan Police said: "We were called at 7.12pm to Nightingale Court, Sheepcote Road, Harrow, to reports of a burglary.

"A 43 year-old man was arrested close the scene

"He was taken to hospital as he injured his leg when he tried to evade police."

Police are continuing their enquires into the incident.
