The newly-elected Mayor of Harrow has announced his two chosen charities during his term.

Cllr Krishna Suresh chose the Harrow Association for Disabled People and Harrow Young Musicians at an event in the Mayor's Parlour on Friday (June 5).

Representatives from both charities were at the launch, where the Mayor spoke about how he admired the work they both carry out for residents across the borough.

Cllr Krishna Suresh said: “The charities I have chosen are very close to my heart. I hope that during my year as Mayor I can help raise their profile and help them to make difference in Harrow.

“Each time I meet the representatives of the charities I am inspired by the dedication and enthusiasm they have, and today was no different. I look forward to working with them in the coming months.”

At the event, Dr Parmar from the International Siddashram Shakti Centre donated £501 to the charities, which will be split evenly.

It is traditional in Hindu culture when donating the denomination ends in one, as this is considered lucky.
