Harlesden Road in Brent will remain partially closed as Thames Water carries out emergency works to fix a water main that burst on Tuesday morning (December 12).

The road was closed between Peter Avenue and Kings Road at around 6am while Thames Water attended the scene.

Water was diverted from homes in the area while work to fix the 16-inch thick pipe began and many residents were left without water or complained of low water pressure.

Thames Water told motorists to expect disruption and delays in the area as the work continued.

By mid-morning water pressure in the area was restored to normal but residents were warned that part of the road would remain shut for ongoing works until later this week.

A Thames Water spokesman said: "We’re sorry for the disruption our burst pipe has caused.

"Water supplies were back to normal mid-morning and we’ll stay in the area supporting those customers who have been affected for as long as they need us.

"Our repairs to the burst pipe on Harlesden Road are expected to go on until later in the week but we’ll do all we can to be off the road as soon as possible."
