Hammersmith Station was evacuated on Tuesday morning (September 19) after reports of a "suspicious item".

British Transport Police were called to the scene at 8.29am after a member of the public reported a suspicious item.

“The station was evacuated while officers investigated, and it was found to be non-suspicious,” the spokesman said.

The station reopened at 8.45am, they added.

Meanwhile, commuters using Southern services face disruption between Milton Keynes and East Croydon due to a lack of train drivers.

Journeys are either cancelled or delayed, running on reduced service.

Disruption is expected to last until 5pm on Tuesday (September 19).
