Move over hair salon, the time of the "hairport" is here.
Yes, more often than not, people are visiting hair salons for a quick blow-dry or style to set them up for the day, rather than spending hours getting a wash, cut, colour and style.
According to market research company Mintel, more than 50% of women enjoyed a blow-dry at a salon from summer 2015 until summer 2016.
Although blow-dry bars are not a new phenomenon in the UK, with many popping up across cities like London, Birmingham and Manchester, they are almost unheard of in UK airports.
Bradley Smith owns a chain of west London hair and beauty salons located in Strawberry Hill, Twickenham and at Heathrow Airport.
The 33-year-old opened his first salon, Bradley Smith Hair, at Heathrow Sofitel hotel in 2010 and is now stepping into the world of "hairports" after launching the UK's first express airport hair salon at Heathrow Terminal 5 in October last year.
A spokesman for Bradley Smith Hair said: "The 'hairport' is not a new idea but unknown in the UK, in contrast to America, Europe and Asia where the concept is prevalent, recently Schiphol, Amsterdam and Hamad International, Doha launched similar salons to our Bradley Smith Hair Express Salon at Heathrow Terminal 5."
The "hairport" is particularly popular with passengers jumping off planes wanting to freshen up before a work meeting or cabin crew needing a fresh look before boarding their next flight.
"It's the new trend of like express, fast in and out service where people don't have a lot of time to do these things that they normally would do at the weekend," said Mr Smith.
Adding: "It's the new trend that's coming in, everyone's jumping on it. It's efficient."
Mr Smith was approached by Heathrow Airport who provided him with an empty shop in arrivals.
The salon offers everything from male haircuts, women's dry cuts, manicures, pedicures, eyebrow threading and of course, blow-dries.
Mr Smith told getwestlondon: "We find that people tend to wash their hair in the location they are leaving from, wack it up on the plane, then come straight in here for a blow-dry before they jump on the Heathrow Express to get straight into London for their meetings."
He says he can do a male cut in seven minutes and a female blow-dry in just 15.
If you are looking for a quick blow-dry, you can expect to pay £30, or £40 for a cut on top, with male cuts coming in at £20.
The salon has quite the celebrity client list including Craig David, Jamie Fox and snooker player Stephen Hendry.
Mr Smith plans to launch a further express salon air side at Heathrow and in the future hopes to expand the model into every airport across the world.
