A Conservative Party survey has sparked outrage after it asked affluent Kensington residents to rate how important to them the Grenfell Tower tragedy and its aftermath was as a "local issue".

A leaflet, sent to Courtfield ward residents, said: "Please circle the number which represents how important to you and your family each of the following local issues are."

First on the list was the "tragedy of Grenfell Tower and help for the families affected and the wider community".

This was followed by issues including "affordable housing", "recycling, rubbish collection and street cleaning" and "transport, congestion and borough-wide parking permit" - with ratings going from 0 (not important at all) to 10 (very important).

So far, 67 people have been formally identified as having died as a result of the tower block inferno on June 14.

Twitter user Luke Francis posted a picture of the survey, adding: "The Tories in Kensington have just asked residents to rate how important they think the Grenfell tragedy was... from a scale of 1-10.

"Breathtakingly inappropriate and insensitive."

The online version of the survey, which was available here , has now been removed, with the notice "Sorry...This form is closed to new submissions."

Kensington, Chelsea and Fulham Conservatives have been contacted for comment.
