Hounslow Council is offering support and advice to any of its residents affected by the Grenfell Tower fire .

The ‘Emergencies’ page on its website now includes guidance on support services available for victims and all those affected by the catastrophic blaze, which broke out in North Kensington in the early hours of Wednesday (June 14) morning.

It comes as the council said it was putting plans to re-clad its own tower blocks on hold and seeking further guidance and advice, in light of the fire in North Kensington.

The death toll currently stands at 30 but will rise further with emergency services continuing its recovery process.

The Hounslow page includes urgent advice and support for victims, their friends and families, listing the phone numbers of those who have been displaced or concerned about their loved ones.

It also provides links to Kensington and Chelsea Council, Police and Fire Brigade, and updates from the NHS on the Grenfell Tower fire.

It also goes on to list bereavement support and how people can volunteer and donate goods for those who have lost so much in the blaze.

Letters handed out to residents on Thursday (June 15) from Hounslow Council’s head of housing said it was putting on hold plans to re-clad Brentford Towers.

Cladding had been added to Grenfell during refurbishments last year, but residents in the 27 storey tower say it helped the flames spread quickly across the building.

The cause of the fire is not yet known, but Prime Minister Theresa May has announced a public inquiry into the disaster.
