A whole community is rallying round to help those affected by the huge fire at Grenfell Tower .

People are being encouraged to take anything they can to a number of drop-off points that have been set up across west London after residents lost their home in the blaze which engulfed nearly every single floor of the tower block

Hundreds of firefighters tackled the fire which broke out at the 27-storey block of flats in the early hours of Wednesday (June 14) morning.

Multiple fatalities have been confirmed by both the Metropolitan Police and the London Fire Commissioner and more than 50 patients have been taken to different hospitals.

Concerned neighbours have been sharing the information on social media and a Just Giving page has been set up to help those affected, which is hoped will raise £4,000.

One of the drop-off points, Portobello Rugby Club, wrote on its Facebook page : "We're putting together a list of what supplies are needed and will let everyone know asap. Rugby Portobello Trust's (RPT) doors are open for those needing shelter or support.

"Please use the ' GRENFELL TOWER RESIDENTS AT RPT' event page to let us know if you have/need supplies or to find out about people sheltering at RPT.

"We will let everyone know as soon as possible what is needed.

"We suspect there will be many people needing long-term support and supplies and to be most effective in supporting them, we're asking everyone to please hold off on dropping anything to RPT until we can put together a list of what is needed."

And QPR Chairman Tony Fernandes has said he has asked those at the club to open its doors following the fire, which developed just minutes away from the club's ground Loftus Road.
