Owners of Avenue Park in Greenford have spoken out to getwestlondon about their devastation after mounds of rubbish was left on the fields and caused destruction to sports facilities.

The former Viking Sports Ground, now owned by London Marathon Playing Field Foundation charity, was left with huge piles of rubbish, wood and appliances.

Chief Executive of the charity Alex Welsh described the damage done as "heartbreaking".

He said: "It is heart-breaking to see the damage.

"It will take considerable time and money to reinstate the pitch to its former condition."

The pitch in question which was left in ruins is used by the London Tigers FC, but Mr Welsh believes restoring it will take a long time.
