Great West Road had to be closed westbound after a crash involving two vehicles at Riverbank Way during the early hours of Tuesday morning.

The major road which joins the M4 in Brentford had to be closed after two vehicles collided at around 4.10am in a yellow box junction.

The crash happened at the road's junction with Riverbank Way, just before the River Brent.

A Metropolitan Police spokesman confirmed the collision had involved a private hire vehicle and a lorry but there were no injuries

Traffic is able to avoid the accident by exiting at Riverbank Way around the incident and rejoining the carriageway.

Recovery is at the scene dealing with the first vehicle.

There is also congestion on the A4 Great West Road eastbound as people slow down to look at the accident on the other side of the carriageway.

Great West Road still closed

A4 Great West Road Westbound is still closed and there is slow traffic due to recovery work after a two vehicle accident at Riverbank Way, congestion to B452 Windmill Road.
Just before bridge over the River Brent near to Great West Plaza. Traffic is able to bypass the scene by exiting at Riverbank Way around the incident and rejoin the carriageway. Recovery is at scene, dealing with the second vehicle.
