Great British Bake Off host Sue Perkins will be a guest conductor at a classical music event in Marylebone next month.

The writer, presenter and broadcaster will be part of the National Orchestra for All (NOFA) winter fundraising event, Musical Chairs, on January 16.

The event will see 60 members of the public join a group of dedicated and committed young musicians from the NOFA to experience playing in a symphony orchestra for a day.

Under the baton of Ms Perkins and NOFA’s Artistic Patron and Head of Conducting at the Royal Academy of Music, Sian Edwards, the musicians will work on Beethoven’s 5th Symphony and Dvorak’s New World Symphony.

They will then perform at King Solomon Academy, Marylebone.

Ms Perkins, who hosts Great British Bake Off with Mel Giedroyc, won the 2008 TV series Maestro, which saw eight celebrities vie for the chance to conduct the BBC Concert Orchestra.

She has since conducted at the Southbank Centre and the Royal Albert Hall.
