A man who caused criminal damage to trains and railway stations including at Acton and White City has been sentenced to 20 months' imprisonment.

Maksymillian Knapik, 25, of no fixed address, damaged a variety of trains and railway infrastructure on the London Underground and National Rail.

Between February and July last year, he damaged infrastructure including Ealing Common depot, White City, Acton depot, Boston Manor station and the railway between Ravenscourt Park and Hammersmith.

British Transport Police (BTP) said the damage cost £73,000 to repair.

He painted graffiti and targeted trains held at Acton depot, where some historic underground carriages are kept for London Transport's heritage museum

For many of the offences he dressed in hi-visibility clothing and wore a white hard hat.

While committing an offence at Ealing Common depot, Knapik dropped his tabard and hard hat. His DNA was later found on the hard hat.

Knapik was arrested on May 17, 2016 when a security guard at Ealing Common depot noticed fresh graffiti on a train and saw Knapik running away.

BTP officers attended and arrested the "graffiti vandal," as they called him.

Knapik was found guilty of criminal damage.

At Blackfriars Crown Court on May 15, he was sentenced to 20 months' imprisonment and given a five-year Criminal Behaviour Order.
