The candidates to stand in the two constituencies in the borough of Hounslow have been announced.
Meet the politicians from the Labour, Conservative, Liberal Democrat and Green parties who will be fighting for a seat in Brentford and Isleworth and in Feltham and Heston.
The race is on as both current, Labour Members of Parliament (MP) Ruth Cadbury and Seema Malhotra will be challenged in the upcoming general election announced by Prime Minister Theresa May to be held on June 8.
Brentford and Isleworth
Ruth Cadbury - Labour
She won at the polls in the 2015 General Election by a marginal 456 votes and ousted Tory Mary Macleod.
Now hopeful candidate Ms Cadbury has said she wants to fight to hold her seat in the upcoming General Election.
She has put in her form for nomination as the UK Labour candidate for the constituency.
She continues to fight against a third runway at Heathrow Airport which will have a huge impact on constituents and voted against backing Article 50 in the Brexit saga.
Most recently in the Commons she stood to plea to minsters to help in the Charlie Gard case.
Ms Cadbury who lives in Brentford will face Mary Macleod once again in the battle for Brentford and Iselworth.
Mary Macleod - Conservative
As the former holder of the seat Mary Macleod narrowly missed out on a win in the 2015 General Election, despite in fact increasing her vote.
Since then she has been busy as a special adviser to the Secretary of State for Scotland for a short time, until taking up her current role as senior client partner at a global executive search firm.
She defeated Olympic rowing champion James Cracknell , and ex-British Army officer Christopher Salmon on Wednesday (April 26) to be named as the candidate to contest the seat.
Following the announcement on Twitter she said: "Really thrilled and humbled to be selected as Conservative candidate for Brentford & Isleworth -here to serve & represent the community."
Mary is on the Advisory Board of the charity, Career Ready, and locally is a Trustee of The Shelter Project Hounslow and President of the Chiswick Royal British Legion.
Before entering politics she was an adviser to the Queen.
Joe Bourke - Liberal Democrat
He will stand once again as the candidate for the Liberal Democrats in a bid to snatch the contested seat.
Joe Bourke said he will join the many residents who disagree with Theresa May on a "hard Brexit" and fight his campaign with this message at the forefront.
Mr Bourke said: “I will be campaigning and making the case that anyone who wants to avoid a disastrous hard Brexit, keep Britain in the single market, and who wants Great Britain to remain open, tolerant and united, the only party to vote for is the Liberal Democrats.”
While Conservatives regained the seat in 2010, the Liberal Democrats got 24% of the votes in that year.
Labour then regained the seat when the Liberal Democrat vote fell back in in 2015.
Diane Scott - Green Party
There's a new runner in the race for the Brentford and Isleworth seat as Diane Scott stands for the Green Party.
The mum-of-three and grandmother-of-one will fight to protect the environment and for a fairer society.
She is a retired medical researcher who has lived in Grove Park, Chiswick, for more than 30 years.
Ms Scott was part of the flash mob that demostrated against a third runway at the opening of Heathrow Terminal 5 in 2008, and helped set up Chiswick Transition to encourage home-grown produce.
She continues to campaign against air pollution, is concerned about climate change, wants to see a better NHS and voted against Brexit.
In the previous election Daniel Goldsmith ran for the Green Party.
Feltham and Heston
Seema Malhotra - Labour
The Labour candidate for Feltham and Heston is none other than Seema Malhotra who will stand once again to retain her seat.
On Twitter she said: "For our shared prosperity, community cohesion, our NHS & a better education for our kids, I will stand again to be MP for Feltham & Heston".
She is a member on the Committee on Exiting the European Union
In 2011 following a by-election after the death of Labour MP Alan Keen, Ms Malhotra was voted in.
She won a landslide victory in the general election in 2015 and hopes to do the same again.
Mr Keen had been MP for the constituency since 1992 and the seat has only been out of Labour's hands for two terms, when it was held by Conservative Patrick Ground from 1983-1992, since being created in 1974.
Samir Jassal - Conservative
Standing for the Conservatives will be Samir Jassal fighting back to win the seat from Labour.
He previously stood as a candidate in East Ham in 2015 and served as a councillor and cabinet member for business development.
Mr Jassal said: “I am out to win this seat which has been held and neglected by the Labour for far too long.
"I shall listen to people’s concerns and see that they are addressed now and if elected.
"In Feltham and Heston, we need to wage war on flytipping and antisocial behaviour, encourage good schools and look after our elderly, whilst providing a business-friendly environment, without which there are no resources to fund public services."
Hina Malik - Liberal Democrat
Fighting for the seat in Feltham and Heston for the Lib Dems will be entrepreneur and primary school teacher Hina Malik.
The mother-of-two said the party will fight 'to stop hard Brexit' to safegaurd Britain's future.
Her background includes being the first acclaimed Pakistani female aeronatuical engineer, and in the past has worked for the Civil Aviation Authority and British Airways.
She is an advocate for quality education, runs her own social organisation, Voice of Women (VOWS) and is an ambassador for Save the Children UK and Cancer Research UK.
Mrs Malik said: "My campaign is already off to a flying start and I have been meeting people from different communities from across the area and talking to them about their concerns on local and national issues."
The Lib Dems initially announced Roger Crouch as the candidate for this seat before confirming it would be Mrs Malik.
In the 2015 General Election the poll results saw the Lib Dems take fourth place in the constituency, behind Labour, Tories and UKIP.
Tony Firkins - Green Party
He stood in the previous general election in 2015 and is back again to fight for the same seat.
Mr Firkins has lived in Brentford for over 30 years and has a vested interest in climate change and is a strong believer of "think global, act local".
He has been involved in local campaigns against Heathrow expansion and air pollution.
The mobile phone network operator is a keen cyclist and walker and wants to see a greener Feltham and Heston.
“Green politics is about ensuring we continue to have a habitable world for humankind to live in," he said.
"In making decisions about the transport we use daily, the housing we live in, the stuff we buy and the food we eat, we need to consider the natural world.
"Climate change and other pollution is a real threat to our way of life but also an opportunity to move towards a healthier, cleaner, peaceful, fairer, sustainable and more beautiful place to live, work and play.”
Stuart Agnew - UKIP
He's a new candidate for the constituency and comes all the way from Norfolk.
Stuart Agnew will be representing UKIP in the running for the Feltham and Heston seat in the upcoming general election.
He told getwestlondon as part of the manifesto UKIP will be taking a stand on violence against women.
Mr Agnew said: "Having stood for UKIP for four general elections in my area of rural Norfolk, I am now making a dramatic change.
"I am very enthused by our 'integration policy' in our manifesto and wish to use this general election as a way of informing voters about the dramatic increase in violence against women that the UK is witnessing in certain areas, particularly London.
"In our attitudes to women we are sliding back into the Dark Ages, and our establishment politicians are turning a blind eye."
He will be holding three public meetings in the borough on May 25 at Bedfont Football Club; May 26 at Montague Hall and June 2 at Feltham Assembly Hall.
