Labour has retained its seats in the Brent Central and Brent North seats in the 2017 General Election.

Dawn Butler secured a massive majority of just three short of 28,000 in Brent Central , while Barry Gardiner walked away with a majority of 17,061 in Brent North.

In nearby Hampstead and Kilburn, Tulip Siddiq also won her seat, ensuring all three MPs returned in Brent are Labour.

An exuberant Ms Butler later tweeted: “Thank you Brent Central..... thank you. Thank you... thankyou”.

Both Ms Butler and Mr Gardiner were swamped with messages of goodwill after their results were announced.

In a message to Ms Butrler, Usaama Kaweesa said on Twitter: “Congratulations @DawnButlerBrent on your re-election! I’m really happy for you”

And Imogen Tyreman said: “So chuffed @DawnButlerBrent reelected, a fantastic Labour woman.”

In messages to Mr Gardiner, Rosh on Twitter wrote: “Proud of Brent North for re-electing Barry Gardiner! Such a nice guy and is obviously a very popular MP.”
