Members of the Ealing community are holding a special memorial dinner to raise money for Iran in memory of a late dentist.

Dr Sombhat Carapeti-Assatorian, who lived in Ealing for more than 40 years, died on June 5 at the age of 83.

A memorial dinner in tribute to him is being held on Saturday (August 1) from 6pm at the Methodist Church, in Pitshanger Lane, with some travelling from as far afield as America to attend.

The event will also be to collect donations in aid of poor people in Abadan, Iran, Dr Carapeti-Assatorian's home town, to "keep his name alive".

The dentist, who first came to the UK in 1952 to study, returned with his family in 1980 and settled in North Ealing.

He opened West Ealing Dental Practice, in Uxbridge Road, and was described as "highly respected" by the community.
