A popular bus route through Hounslow is set to run on Sundays for the first time, as well as getting more frequent services during the rest of the week.

A new timetable is set to be introduced on route 481, which runs from Kingston to West Middlesex Hospital , in Isleworth , from Saturday (May 7).

Buses will now run every 30 minutes, rather than each hour, from Monday to Saturday, and will operate hourly on Sundays.

Transport for London (TfL) said the frequency was being increased to meet growing demand for the service, which runs via Teddington, Fulwell, Whitton and Twickenham .

Passenger numbers on the route have increased by around 7% during weekdays over the last five years and by 20% on Saturdays.

Changes to bus routes E8, 110 and 635, which all run through Hounslow, were recently announced following public consultation.

TfL said bus passenger numbers across the capital had increased by 69% since it was formed in 2000.

It plans to spend £500m improving the bus network during the six years from 2015/16 to 2020/21.
