Public Health England is encouraging people to take a free online test to find out their "heart age" and predicted life expectancy.

People over the age of 30 in particular are urged to complete the quix.

The Heart Age Test asks a series of questions about the participant's lifestyle and overall health to calculate an estimated heart age.

Those that are given a heart age higher than their actual age have an increased chance of having a heart attack or stroke.

According to Public Health England, about 80% of heart attacks and strokes in people under 75 could be prevented if heart health was improved, as reported by Surrey Live.

As a result Public Health England is asking people to take the test and improve their lifestyle if their heart age is higher.

Alexandra Preston, head of lifestyle at Heart Research UK said: "It’s really important that over 30’s look after their heart health, and one of the best places to start is in the workplace.

"We spend most of our day at work, and employers need to prioritise the health of their employees, with lost productivity due to ill health costing the UK economy an estimated £77.5 billion.

“This research shows that 78% of over 30’s have a heart age higher than their actual age. Some simple lifestyle changes could drastically reduce this figure.

“Heart Research UK is committed to helping employers improve their employee’s heart health through our Healthy Heart Mark scheme.

“We encourage all businesses to take this opportunity to take positive steps to improving the heart health of their employees.”
