Two men and two women have been fined over £30,000 for illegal constructions at the front and back of a property in Hounslow .

Mr JS Randhawa, Ms JK Randhawa, Ms JK Laly and Mr BS Laly, all of Hounslow, were found to be in breach of planning control regulations.

The residents had built a wooden enclosure at the front of a property in Bath Road, Hounslow, and a canopy extension at the back despite not having planning permission.

Further to this they had ignored a number of council enforcement notices to remove the structures.

Hounslow council's enforcement officers made the discovery.

All four defendants claimed they were not aware of the enforcement notices to remove the structures and of the time in which they were given to remove them.

However they went on to plead guilty at Ealing Magistrates' Court.

They were ordered to pay fines as a group totalling £28,000, along with court costs of £2,761.48 and victim surcharge of £480.

The structures were later removed by the four residents.

The council is warning people to not ignore notices as it says it "will always take the strongest action if necessary”.

Councillor Sue Sampson, cabinet member for community protection at Hounslow Council, said: “There was ample notice given to remove the structures which had no planning permission, but this was ignored and so the matter went to court.

“The fines and court case could have been prevented if the notices had been adhered to.

"We are simply saying please don’t ignore these notices as this shows just how much it can cost you.

“We are cracking down on those who think they can do what they want and when they want, which is not fair on those who comply by the rules."
