More than 70 firefighters tackled a blaze which roared into the night at a residential area in Paddington on Monday (February 15).

The affluent neighbourhood, where houses prices average at in excess of a million pounds, saw 10 fire engines make their way to Gloucester Place just after 5.30pm.

The fire took place in Gloucester Place, one of London's most expensive spots

A spokesperson from London Fire Brigade told getwestlondon the mansard roof of a neighbouring property was also damaged and the second floor of the three-storey W2 home was ablaze.

They added: "Four adults left the property – a terraced house of three floors - before the arrival of the Brigade and there are no reports of any injuries.

Station Manager John Ryan who was at the scene, said: "Crews fought the fire from both sides of the property as well as using aerial appliances to tackle the blaze from above.

"Firefighters worked hard in challenging conditions to bring the fire under control as quickly as they could."
