Armed police intercepted a vehicle and made four arrests after SEVEN gunpoint robberies at bookmakers in north west London in just a week.

Staff at the bookies shops were threatened with a firearm on each occasion during the string of incidents.

Officers from the Met's Flying Squad carried out an armed interception of a vehicle in The Rutts, Bushey, Hertfordshire at around 7.35pm on Tuesday (November 28).

Three men, aged 22, 38, and 40, were arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to commit armed robbery. A firearm and cash was also recovered at the scene, police said.

Following the stop, a fourth man, aged 21, was arrested at an address in Montrose Road, Harrow, on suspicion of conspiracy to commit armed robbery and possession with intent to supply class B drugs.

All four men have been taken to a north London police station for questioning, where they remain in custody.

A firearm recovered by police officers in Bushey

The robberies all took place between November 22 and November 28 in Harrow, Pinner, Kingsbury, Finchley and Bushey.

Three were carried out in Harrow, one in Preston Road and College Hill Road on November 22, and another in Streatfield Road the following day.

Robberies also took place in Uxbridge Road, Pinner, Ballards Lane, Finchley, Kingsbury Road, Kingsbury, and High Road, Bushley.

No shots were fired during the incidents and there were no reports of injuries.

Investigations are ongoing.
