A 71-year-old former Uxbridge teacher has been jailed for six years for indecently assaulting three children, the youngest of which was a seven-year-old girl.

Terence Peter Back was a teacher at Whitehall Junior School in Cowley Road and his offences date back to 1974.

Back, of Bexhill on Sea in Sussex, was jailed at Isleworth Crown Court on Wednesday (July 13) for indecent assault on a seven-year-old girl, an 11 year old boy and an 11-year-old girl.

He was sentenced to two years for each offence, and will serve a minimum of three years.

Detective Constable Emma MacDonald, from the Metropolitan Police Child Abuse Investigation Team said: “I hope that Back's conviction will help ease the painful memories of his victims."

“Although this was a protracted investigation, I wish to thank the witness for their full support. They have shown such bravery reliving painful memories to the team and at court.

“Giving evidence can be very daunting but witnesses are supported throughout the process.”

Back was convicted of the offences in June and was arrested in 2014 after a female former Whitehall student made an allegation against him to police in 2013

The investigation was launched and he was questioned by police in May 2013, when he denied the offences.

A second witness was traced by police and provided an account, and police were led to Kingsway Junior School in Watford, where Back also taught.

Two more victims were found with these offences dating back to the 1980s, and witnesses and pupils gave similar accounts of Back's crimes.

He was arrested and interview in April and June 2014 before finally being charged on September 8, 2015.

Back was also found not guilty of gross indecency against a seven-year-old girl.

Earlier this week, a former Hounslow assistant headteacher was also banned from teaching for looking at bestiality images .
