Fog will continue to affect flights into and out of Heathrow Airport with passengers urged to check their journeys.

Delays hit flights at Heathrow Airport on Thursday (December 29) after freezing fog had hit London overnight.

The airport said delays will continue today, and other airports in the UK and Europe, due to the weather.

A spokesman on its Twitter page said: "Foggy weather is affecting flights in the UK & Europe today.

"Please check the flight status with your airline before heading to the airport."

Motorists are also advised to take caution on the roads as thick fog continues to linger.
