Five people were seriously injured and weapons were recovered following a fight in Hounslow , which is believed to have broken out at a car boot sale.

Police said they were called to Staines Road, in Hounslow, at approximately 7.10am on Sunday (February 28) morning to reports of a fight.

Five men were taken to hospital in a serious but stable condition and police said a number of weapons had been recovered.

Officers remained at the scene at 9am, and it is not known at this stage whether there have been any arrests.

The fight is understood to have broken out at the Hounslow Heath car boot sale, which takes place in the car park at the north-east corner of the heath every Sunday from 7am.

Hounslow police have urged drivers to avoid the area. They tweeted at around 8.30am to say Staines Road was closed between Green Lane and Martindale Road, and would remain closed for the "foreseeable future".
