Firefighters contained a Kensington and Chelsea borough tower block blaze - less than one week after the horrific Grenfell Tower disaster .

A fire broke out at Trellick Tower, just one mile away from the 24-floor apartment block obliterated by the blaze which killed 79 people, on Tuesday (June 20) evening.

Hundreds of residents of Trellick Tower, a 31-floor Brutalist style block of flats, were previously evacuated after an apartment fire on the 27th floor , back in April, when 'fast and vicious flames' destroyed a kitchen and balcony .

On Tuesday, June 20, part of a balcony of a 15th floor flat at the tower block in Golborne Road, Ladbroke Grove was damaged by fire.

A spokesperson for London Fire Brigade said: "Four fire engines and around 20 firefighters and officers were called to a fire on a balcony

"The small fire was out before the arrival of the Brigade.

"The Brigade was called at 1854 and the incident was over for firefighters at 1925.

"Fire crews from North Kensington and Paddington fire stations attended the scene."
