Homeowners living in west London could be making extra cash by renting out their unused parking spaces to the thousands of gig goers who flock to live music venues across the city.

Attractions such as Wembley SSE Arena and stadium could mean people can be earning £70 a week by hiring out their unused car parking spots.

Those advertising their spaces in Brent near the venues have seen "short let" spots earn them £25 a day or £131 a month.

Meanwhile, Katheleen Hubbart, who lives near Hammersmith Apollo rents out her parking space for £10 a day.

Hammersmith Apollo is one music venue that is unable to provide any of its own parking spaces.

She said: "I don’t own a car so it made logical sense to let it out to people that needed it.

"My space is in a great spot close to a number of attractions including the Apollo so it’s regularly rented by people visiting the area.

"The extra money each month is welcome and it's very little hassle."

Those hoping to earn a little on the side living near the venue Roundhouse, can expect to see parking spots going for as high as £42 for short term parking.

SSE Arena, home to major performers in west London

Harrison Woods, managing director at YourParkingSpace.co.uk said: "Often due to their age and location, many urban music venues don't have the capacity or space to provide their own car parks meaning those travelling to concerts have to find alternative parking.

"With growing numbers of people heading to concerts it offers homeowners living close to venues a fantastic opportunity to generate some extra income."
