Motorists in Hounslow have been handed an early Christmas gift, with the offer of free parking over Christmas .

Drivers can park for free on Christmas Eve (Thursday, December 24) at council-controlled paid-for parking spaces on street and in car parks.

On Boxing Day (Saturday December 26), Monday, December 28 and New Year's Day (Friday January 1), bank holiday restrictions will apply for those parking spaces.

Normal charges and restrictions will remain in place for other dates during the festive period.

Drivers should also note that other parking restrictions, such as double yellow lines, will still be in place throughout Christmas and New Year.

Hounslow Council leader Steve Curran said: "This is just a small gesture from us so that shoppers can get those last minute purchases on Christmas Eve that they need and also be able to get to relatives and friends over Christmas and New Year.

"We hope that it will make things a little easier for everyone trying to get around and also for our local businesses, as it will be easier for residents to visit and shop in and around their local town centres at this time."
