A female police officer was injured while trying to arrest a man in Hounslow town centre on Wednesday (June 10).

She required four stitches to her head following the incident, understood to have taken place at or close to the O2 mobile phone shop in Hounslow High Street, at about 4.30pm.

Sergeant Sean O'Connor, of Hounslow Police, tweeted that she had been discharged from hospital and was "at home taking a well-deserved rest".

A Met Police spokesman said the officer had been injured while carrying out enquiries into alleged fraud in Hounslow High Street.

He said she was taken to a west London hospital where she was treated for a head injury before being discharged.

He added that a 36-year-old man had been arrested at the scene on suspicion of GBH and fraud, and was taken to a west London police station where he remained in custody this morning.
