A noisy neighbour in Feltham who made life a misery for families with loud music day and night has had his equipment confiscated.

The audio visual appliances worth hundreds of pounds were seized from the property after a warrant was issued by Feltham Magistrates’ Court on December 3, in a joint operation between Hounslow council’s enforcement and housing teams and Hounslow police.

Among the raft of items removed included a gaming chair with speakers, DVD players, a Nintendo Wii, a laptop, computer, surround sound speakers, mini disc players and a TV.

Neighbours who started complaining about noise levels back in October, will be relieved to get some peace and quiet after around two months of sleepless nights.

An investigation by the council’s late night noise team revealed on three visits to the complainants homes the music volume was unacceptably high and caused a nuisance to others.

It was deemed to be at a level which prevented neighbours enjoying activities in their home, such as watching TV or reading a book, peacefully.

The man, who cannot be named for legal reasons, was given a written and verbal warning cautioning him, but despite this continued to make his neighbours’ lives miserable.

A decision will be made to decide whether the council will retain or return the equipment seized and whether the man will face a fine.

Councillor Richard Foote, cabinet member for community protection at Hounslow Council, said: “Despite being warned about the impact his loud music was having on others, this person was making the lives of his neighbours a misery.

“We acted swiftly, and reasonably, to deal with the issue and pull the plug on this noisy neighbour. I hope this example will act as a warning for others who think it’s okay to pump up the volume at all hours of the day and night – it’s not.

“With the party season underway it’s worthwhile thinking about the impact of your celebration on those around you.

“Make sure you let your neighbours know if you’re having a party, and after 11pm turn down your music so we can all enjoy a silent night.”
