It is finally the weekend, time to get out with the family and enjoy some free time.

Certainly not a time to be sitting in a traffic jam with the kids shouting in the back "Are we there yet?"

Over the weekend, sporting events and roadworks are forcing some roads to close, so check before you head out and do not let the traffic spoil your weekend.

Twickenham

Roads surrounding Twickenham stadium will be closed on Saturday December 3 due to an international rugby match at the stadium.

Motorists should be warned that the area is expected to be populated by large numbers of pedestrians both before and after the matches.

England are hosting Australia, with a kick off time of 2.30pm. Traffic levels are expected to increase before and after the match.

Avoid the A316 Chertsey Road if possible, as delays are expected.

London Road, Whitton Road and Rugby Road will be closed and diversions will be in place.

Brentford

There will be lane closure to facilitate resurfacing works

There are lane restrictions in place on the A4, Great West Road, westbound between the B455 Ealing Road and the A3002 Boston Manor Road in Brentford between around 10pm and 5am.

It is due to road resurfacing works taking place from Friday, December 2 to Monday, December 5.

Wembley Park

Engineers Way will be closed between First Way and Rutherford Way in Wembley Park to facilitate installation of new drainage.

The closure will be in place until December 6.

Tfl advise motorists to use other routes whilst the closure is in place.

Knightsbridge

Work will continue until 2019

Work continues until April 2019 during the redevelopment of 55-91 Knightsbridge .

It is affecting the A4 in Knightsbridge in both directions between Wilton Place and William Street and the westbound bus lane is closed.

Kensington

There will be lane restrictions and temporary traffic lights in operation on the A402 Bayswater Road westbound at the junction of Kensington Palace Gardens.

Restrictions will remain in place whilst works are carried out until December 9.

Ladbroke Grove

There will be temporary traffic lights on December 3

Motorists are being warned to expect disruption on the A4207 Great Western Road in all directions at the junction of Elkstone Road.

It is due to temporary traffic signals which will be in operation on Saturday, December 3, to facilitate works for the Crossrail Project.

Hyde Park

Motorists are being warned to expect large numbers of pedestrians in the Hyde Park Corner, Marble Arch and Park Lane areas due to the park's Winter Wonderland event.

The event is open from 10am until 10pm daily and some internal roads within the park will be closed or for event access only.

Hammersmith

Motorists should expect delays on Hammersmith bridge.

The A306 at the bridge has a new weight limit imposed. Due to safety reasons, only one bus can cross the bridge at a time.

Delays will continue until the bridge is fully refurbished, which is expected to be by the end of December this year.

Chiswick

Power road is closed due to continuing bridge replacement works

TfL continue to warn of possible delays in both directions on the A406 Gunnersbury Avenue at the junction of Power Road in Chiswick.

It is due to the closure of Power Road for continuing bridge replacement works.

Works began in June this year and will continue until December 31.

Hanwell

Expect delays on the A4020 Uxbridge Road in all directions at the junction of Boston Road in Hanwell , due to works facilitating a major borough street scheme.

TfL warns of delays until September 1 2017.
