Unemployed Hounslow residents over the age of 16 are being given that all important boost when it comes to getting their foot in the door with impartial employment advice and guidance being offered by the council.
In a bid to get residents back into work or into a new career, Hounslow Council is partnering with a number of different organisations to offer a series of events providing support.
Ranging from careers advice, CV workshops, childcare advice as well as access to further learning opportunities and employment opportunities, Hounslow locals will receive support to suit their individual needs.
Through a programme funded by the European Social Fund, residents will also have access to advisors from the Department of Work and Pensions, Adult Skills and Learning, Job Centre Plus and Citizens Trust, who will be on hand to offer careers advice and support in finding routes into employment and adult learning.
The council is also offering specialist support for young people with opportunities to speak to representatives from Connexions, Future Pathways and the Youth Service, all of which aim to provide advice to young people about apprenticeship opportunities.
Hounslow Council's cabinet member for education, children’s services and youth services, Councillor Tom Bruce, said: "Giving our young people the best start to finding a career, getting the skills needed to get a job, is what the council is committed to.
He added: "These drop-in sessions will provide a chance for young people and older residents across the borough to get that important advice.
"It will also give them a steer in the right direction that can lead to positive career opportunities now and in the future."
